You may think you already know that. But if you don’t, here’s the truth: the fight didn’t kick off in October 2023. It didn’t even start in 1948. It goes back to 1897, when the term “Zionism” was first coined.

Here’s something many don’t know: even before Palestine became “Israel,” Zionists explored other lands. Options included:

  • East Africa (“Uganda Plan,” actually in modern Kenya) — proposed by Britain in 1903 and debated fiercely
  • Argentina, Cyprus, Mesopotamia, Mozambique, Sinai Peninsula, Birobidzhan, Kimberley (Australia), Suriname, Alaskan Sitka, even Grand Island, New York. None stuck—they lacked history, community, or legitimacy.

What Britain did was classic colonial move: shift Jews out of Europe, appease Zionists, and install them on someone else’s land—Palestine—a land that was never theirs to give.

Why This Matters Now

Today, Palestinians are still left defending their existence amid a brutal apartheid system, ethnic cleansing, home demolitions, and continuous colonization. These are not political theories—this is happening now.

Meanwhile, Zionism—and now the state of Israel—hides behind the Holocaust victim narrative to sound untouchable. Scholars like Norman Finkelstein warned: the Holocaust became a shield against justice, and today, the mask is slipping. Leadership is increasingly open about racist supremacism and open violence.

Amnesty, HRW, the UN—many call it apartheid; UN officials say Gaza looks “very much like genocide.” The world must stop pretending.

About That Conference

So, yes: there was a historic first Jewish anti-Zionist conference in Vienna in mid-June 2025. Around 500 Jews from around the world gathered to reclaim their identity from Zionism and declare it doesn’t speak for Judaism.

They:

  • Issued the Vienna Declaration — rejecting Zionism as representative of Jews, condemning its colonial, apartheid, and genocidal use of religion.
  • Called to suspend Israel from the UN and EU, renew academic/cultural boycotts, and prosecute Israeli leaders at the ICC.
  • Rejected the two-state “façade,” supported “liberation from the river to the sea,” the right of return, and the legitimacy of Palestinian resistance.
  • Included unforgettable moments—Holocaust survivors, academics, activists, even rabbis, declaring what needs to be said.

Let’s give credit where it’s deserved—they did the right thing.

Final Word

But make no mistake: this isn’t about them—it’s about Palestinians. It’s about your conscience, your government, your street protests. Because:

  • This is the last colonial regime standing.
  • This is genocide—whether they call it or not.
  • If the world stays silent, there’s only one outcome.

Wake up. Speak up. Mobilize. Governments only move when citizens beat them over the head with real pressure—sanctions, protests, relentless solidarity. This isn’t a memo. It’s a call to arms—moral arms.

Let’s make justice more than words.
