Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, released a video revealing an assassination attempt on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The footage shows fighters targeting Israeli soldiers and vehicles east of Rafah in southern Gaza.
The video, shared on December 4, includes scenes of mortar shells being launched by a fighter. A handwritten note appears in the footage, written in both Arabic and Hebrew. It reads, “One year since October 7, and two months later, Al-Quds Brigades remain in the field.” Another message directly references Netanyahu, stating, “Do you remember the attempt to assassinate you at the Rafah crossing with a barrage of mortar shells? Signed, Al-Quds Brigades, Rafah Brigade.”
Despite severe restrictions and an ongoing blockade by Israel, Palestinian resistance factions continue to launch operations against Israeli forces and vehicles. They frequently document and broadcast these operations, showcasing their ongoing presence and capabilities in the battlefield.
A recording leaked two months ago had revealed that Netanyahu reportedly expressed concern over a potential drone attack targeting him within the Knesset. The closed-door conversation revealed Netanyahu questioning the security measures in place and voicing fears about being tracked by drones.
Israeli media has revealed that protective measures were strengthened for high-ranking officials after an attack targeted Netanyahu’s private residence.
On October 19, Israeli authorities acknowledged that a Hezbollah-launched drone had struck Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea, hitting his bedroom window directly. Hezbollah has since claimed full responsibility for the attack.
Reports also indicate that Shin Bet has significantly increased spending on protecting Netanyahu’s family, including his wife Sara and sons Avner and Yair, in light of heightened security concerns surrounding his position and personal safety. Netanyahu’s Office had requested NIS 2 million ($530,000) from the occupation state treasury to undertake security upgrades at Benjamin Netanyahu’s private Caesarea residence.
