NEW YORK, October 14, 2024 (WAFA)- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the killing of a large number of civilians as a result of the intensive Israeli attacks in northern Gaza and called for the protection of civilians, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said today.

Dujarric explained, in a press conference, that the news coming from Gaza is very disturbing, adding that UN Secretary-General calls on all parties to abide by international humanitarian law.

For her part, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Joyce Msuya, said in a post on the X platform there seems to be no end to the suffering that Palestinians are experiencing in Gaza.

She added that Israel attacked the place to which it directed civilians as an alleged safe zone.

She affirmed that this brutality must end now, noting that civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected.

Medical sources announced on Monday that the Israeli occupation has killed more than 342 civilians during its aggression on the northern Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for 10 days.

The sources added that the Israeli occupation forces continue with the policy of starvation against citizens to force their displacement, as part of the genocidal war that has now entered its second year.
