Since the fake ceasefire deal was announced, many people think everything is fine in Palestine. Life did not return to normal. Oppression, apartheid policies, and an open-air prison continue. The Israeli regime controls borders and movement. Activists are accused of refusing to move on.
During the so-called ceasefire, Israel continued bombing Gaza, killing Palestinians in the West Bank, seizing land, imprisoning children, men, and women without charge, and performing on the global stage as the victim.
Israel does this with impunity. Global debate focuses on Palestinian groups and compliance. The oppressor continues without consequences. Gaza’s losses remain urgent because top courts and human rights bodies warn of genocide.
The International Court of Justice ruled in January 2024 that there are plausible grounds Israel is violating the Genocide Convention. UN human rights experts report reasonable grounds to believe genocide is taking place. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch document starvation, extermination, and collective punishment.
More than 69,000 Palestinians have been killed.
More than 20,000 children are among them.
Over 1.7 million people are forcibly displaced. Human Rights Watch calls this a war crime.
More than 60 percent of homes are damaged or destroyed. Children lose limbs in surgeries without anesthesia. Parents search for children under rubble. Entire families are buried. The siege blocks food, water, fuel, and medicine. UNICEF reports children starving to death from a man-made famine. The World Health Organization documents hundreds of attacks on hospitals, ambulances, and healthcare workers. All universities in Gaza are destroyed.
This damage breaks families for generations. Children grow up without parents. Parents bury every child. Grandparents become the last surviving members of a family line. Trauma grows. Communities lose doctors, teachers, and nurses. When health, education, and shelter collapse, the future collapses with them.
Public pressure influences policy. Governments keep sending weapons. Amnesty International urges a full arms embargo. Human Rights Watch calls for targeted sanctions and suspension of military aid. States that continue transfers risk complicity in war crimes.
Economic pressure shifts behavior. The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement targets companies and institutions complicit in apartheid, occupation, and genocide. Boycotts reduce demand. Divestment pressures banks, pension funds, and universities. Sanctions limit access to weapons. Current campaigns target companies such as Elbit Systems, HP, and Teva Pharmaceuticals. While Caterpillar made it to the list as its machinery is used to demolish Palestinian homes. Large wealth funds, including in Norway, divested in August due to links to rights violations.
As citizens, we learn and share verified information. We pressure policymakers. We support civil society. We join boycotts. We defend journalists and human rights defenders. We protect families from further harm.
