NEW YORK, October 25, 2024 (WAFA) — The United Nations has expressed serious concerns regarding the Israeli blockade of northern Gaza, highlighting its violation of international law

During a press briefing on Thursday, UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq emphasized the extensive destruction in Gaza resulting from the ongoing Israeli onslaught.

Haq stated, “The enormous devastation caused by the blockade in northern Gaza illustrates that the war is being waged without respect for international law. Families are trapped in their locations, unable to move.”

He noted that approximately 50,000 to 70,000 people currently remain in Jabalia, while an estimated 63,000 individuals have been displaced from the northern areas to the center of the Gaza Strip.

When asked about the UN’s message to the residents of northern Gaza, Haq responded, “We continue to work for them. We are striving to ensure that the world hears them and sees their needs.”

He also mentioned that UN staff are attempting to fulfill their duties in Gaza under extremely challenging conditions.
