Hamas yesterday said the level of destruction discovered after the Israeli occupation forces withdrew from eastern Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip confirms the policy of genocide being pursued by Tel Aviv, Quds Press reported.
“The horrific scenes of widespread destruction that swept through neighbourhoods, residential areas and infrastructure, and the Palestinian Civil Defence’s retrieval of nearly 300 bodies of unarmed civilian martyrs who were killed by the occupation in cold blood; confirms the policy of genocide, destruction and the elimination of civilian life, pursued by the fascist Zionist government, as a goal of this brutal war of revenge against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” Hamas said in a statement.
It pointed out that “the international system’s failure to take effective measures to stop the Israeli occupation’s crimes and hold its leaders accountable has encouraged the commission of more brutal crimes that threaten regional and international peace and security.”
Hamas called on Arab and Islamic countries and the United Nations to “break their silence and inaction, and to shoulder their political and legal responsibilities in stopping the ongoing Israeli crimes and hold Israeli leaders accountable for their violations against humanity.”
Gaza’s Government Media Office (GMO) said 255 Palestinian civilians had been killed during the Israeli occupation army’s eight-day ground operation in the eastern areas of Khan Yunis. More than 300 others were wounded. At least 30 people are still missing.
Videos posted by Palestinians on social media showed extensive excavation and bulldozing operations carried out by the Israeli occupation forces around the Bani Suhaila cemetery east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, with bodies scattered on the ground.
