ISTANBUL

Fenerbahce fans chanted “Free Palestine” during a UEFA Europa League game Thursday in the Netherlands.

The chants resonated throughout AZ Alkmaar’s AFAS Stadion before kickoff as fans expressed their support in unison.

Earlier in the day, fans of another Turkish club, Galatasaray, displayed massive banners saying “Free Palestine,” “Palestinian Genocide” and “Let Gaza Babies Live” behind the goal during a Europa League match to show solidarity with Palestine.

Israel has continued a devastating offensive on Gaza since an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023. The ensuing onslaught has killed nearly 43,500 people and rendered the enclave almost uninhabitable.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the blockaded enclave.
