A few days ago, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) delivered its long-awaited advisory opinion on Israel’s obligations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Court made it clear: Israel must
- respect and protect all relief and medical workers,
- stop forced transfers and deportations,
- never use starvation as a weapon, and
- uphold the human rights of Palestinians, including support for UNRWA’s work.
The ICJ also found no evidence that UNRWA operates on behalf of Hamas.
What’s happening on the ground
The so-called “ceasefire” that began earlier this month has already fallen apart. Israeli airstrikes hit Gaza again, killing dozens of people in Rafah and Deir al-Balah. Israel promised to allow 600 aid trucks per day. Less than half are getting through.
UNRWA reports that more than 300 of its staff have been killed since October 2023. Health facilities are still being attacked — over 1,580 medical workers have been killed. Nearly 90% of Gaza’s schools are destroyed.
The West Bank is no safer. Settler violence is rising. Homes are being demolished. Checkpoints are tighter. Palestinians there live under constant surveillance and fear.
The reality
Israel continues to act with impunity. No real consequences. No sanctions. No accountability. The ICJ has ruled, yet nothing changes on the ground.
That’s why so many people around the world are frustrated — and angry. Because we’re told to believe in “international law,” but the law keeps failing the people of Palestine.
What you can do
Governments may not act. But people can. You have power as a consumer.
The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Movement calls on everyone to stop supporting companies that fund or profit from Israel’s crimes. This includes brands linked to weapons, surveillance, and settlement expansion. Check bdsmovement.net to find out which companies to avoid.
Boycotting isn’t symbolic. It worked against apartheid South Africa. It builds pressure where governments refuse to act.
Each purchase is a choice. Each boycott is an act of resistance. You can help end Israel’s impunity — by refusing to be complicit.
